Catherine Marie Jones, 92

Catherine Marie Jones (Hash) passed away at home on May 13. She was 92.

Born on Glenville Road in Darlington in 1926, she went on to graduate from Bel Air High School and work in personnel at Aberdeen Proving Ground during World War II, according to her obituary.

In 1947, she married Vernon Jones, described as "the love of her life," and they had four children.

They purchased his father's business, Jones Junction, in 1950 and moved it from Conowingo to Bel Air in 1965, where it has grown to become one of the largest family-owned retail car dealerships in Maryland.

"Catherine, called 'Kitty' by those close to her, delighted in her family and friends," according to her obituary. "Catherine’s consistent love and support was the cornerstone of her family."

She is predeceased by a young daughter Cathy, who passed in 1963, as well as her husband Vernon and 20 siblings, according to her obituary.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Beverly Jones of Bel Air, Danny and Gail Jones of Joppa, and Larry and Terri Jones of Bel Air; grandchildren: Reneé Feller and Chris Kephart and her sons, Josh and Eric, of Plantation, Florida; Tiffany and Ron Hall and their children, Tyler and Madelyn of Bel Air; Larry Jones II of Bel Air; Katie and Rick Carroll and their daughters, Avery and Peyton of Bel Air; and Christy Pardew and Josh Raisler Cohn and their sons, Oscar and Elias, of Boston, Massachusetts.

In lieu of flowers, people may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.

There will be a visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, at McComas Funeral Home, 50 West Broadway, Bel Air, MD 21014.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 17, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 2106 Churchville Road, Bel Air, MD 21015.
