​Debra J. Beyer, 41

A Bel Air resident died after a five-year battle with cancer.

Debra J. Beyer — originally from Yuma, Arizona, and most recently of Bel Air — died Monday. She was 41.

For five years, she battled stage IV metastatic breast cancer, receiving more than 10 different chemotherapies along with surgeries that could not eradicate the cancer. It spread to her lymph nodes, liver and bones.

Born May 28, 1978, in Yuma, Arizona, Debra attended Kofa High School, Arizona Western
College and NAU-Yuma, where she obtained degrees in business and public agency management.

With her husband and children, in 2013 she moved to New Jersey and spent five years working there as controller at an international manufacturing company. They moved to Maryland in 2018.

She is survived by her mother and grandfather, Mary Jo McIntyre and Robert W. Stewart of Yuma, Arizona; her husband of 23 years, Jerome J. Beyer of Bel Air, Maryland; children, Brooke Beyer of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Jerome J. Beyer Jr. of Hackettstown, New Jersey, and Josephine Beyer of Bel Air, Maryland; best friend of 36 years, Karla A. Ross of Yuma, Arizona; mother-in-law, Shirley DeRousse-Hambrock of Ridgecrest, California; sister-in-law DeAnna Granger and husband along with nephews, Ashton Bozarth and Jared Granger, and nieces Annabelle, Bethany and MaryAnne Granger; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her grandmother Mary Patricia Stewart of Yuma, Arizona.
