Dispose Of Unwanted Prescriptions At Drug Take Back Day In Harford Co.

Residents can drop off unwanted and unused prescriptions Saturday at Drug Take Back Day held at several locations.

BEL AIR, MD ? Residents can drop off their expired or unused prescription drugs at several sites Saturday including the Bel Air Police Department or the Harford County administration building from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

Hosted by the Harford County Office of Drug Control Policy, in partnership with the Harford County Sheriff's Department, drive-through drop-off locations also include the Maryland State Police Bel Air barrack in Benson at 1401 Bel Air Road in Bel Air, the Havre de Grace Police Department at 715 Pennington Ave., and at Wegmans, located at 21 Wegmans Boulevard in Abingdon. The police department is located at 39 North Hickory Ave. The government administration building can be found at 220 South Main Street.

"Help us keep prescription drugs from falling into the wrong hands or harming the environment by dropping off your unwanted medications for safe disposal," county officials said.

At the October 2024 event, nearly 5,000 sites were hosted across the country with more than 300 tons of unwanted prescription drugs collected. Harford County has collected and destroyed more than 46,000 pounds of unwanted medications since 2013 and the national effort has resulted in the retrieval of over 17.9 million pounds of unwanted, expired or unused medications since 2016.
