Extension Cord Sparks Back Deck Fire At Abingdon Home
The state fire marshal has blamed a back deck fire at an Abingdon home on a pinched extension cord powering an outdoor TV.
ABINGDON, MD ? A pinched extension cord sparked an outdoor deck fire Sunday morning at a townhome in Abingdon.
A neighbor discovered the fire, which broke out at the townhome located in the 2900 block of Galloway Place around 8:12 a.m. April 20. Around 29 firefighters from the Abingdon Fire Company extinguished the blaze in about 15 minutes.
The state fire marshal's office determined that the fire was electrical and caused by an extension cord that had been pinched in an outside wall-mounted television. Estimated loss of contents and structure damage sits at approximately $20,000.
