Fire In Woods Fueled By High Winds

High winds and challenging terrain made it difficult for firefighters to extinguish a blaze in the woods this week.

Several volunteer fire companies from Harford and York counties remained at the scene of a fire in the woods that broke out Wednesday a bit before midnight and were there until 3 a.m. Thursday.

STREET, MD ? Shortly before midnight on Wednesday, multiple firefighter crews were called to the 3600 block of Emory Church Road for a fire in the woods.

Around 15 minutes after that, fire crews requested additional water sources, including Tanker 13, followed by the creation of a tanker task force. However, high winds and challenging terrain made it difficult to battle the blaze, according to the Fallston Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company.
