Bel Air's First Female Meter Maid Dies At 92
Marie Cundiff passed away more than a half-century after moving to Bel Air, where she was the town's first female meter maid.
BEL AIR, MD — The first meter maid for the town of Bel Air has passed away. Marie Cundiff died April 26 at Forest Hill Health & Rehabilitation Center in Forest Hill. She was 92.
Cundiff was born in Baltimore and moved in 1959 to Bel Air. She worked for the Glenn L. Martin Company as well as at the bowling alley and in the town of Bel Air, where she was the first female meter maid, according to her obituary. She was reportedly a member of St. Margaret; volunteered for the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company's Ladies Auxiliary, the Flower Society of Bel Air, Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, St. Margaret and other organizations; and she loved animals, dolls, gardening, family and friends.
She is survived by daughter Bonnie Honchar and husband, Kevin; grandson, Jonathan Honchar; granddaughter, Kaylin Honchar; and pets K.C., Lilly Marie and Lightning.

According to her obituary, she was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Anna (Martin) Betz; husband, William Leonard Cundiff; and siblings Carole Shindle, Leo Betz, Madelyn Herzog and George Betz.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, according to McComas Funeral Home, which said people can make memorial contributions to the Humane Society of Harford County, 2208 Connolly Road, Fallston, MD, 21047.
