Funeral Set For Man Who Died At Rocks State Park

The 22-year-old who had a fatal fall from King and Queen Seat will be remembered with a funeral service.

WILMINGTON, DE — The funeral has been set for the man who died while hiking on Presidents Day at Rocks State Park.

Joseph Buxton of Savage died suddenly in a hiking accident in Harford County Feb. 17, his obituary says. He was 22 years old.

Buxton worked as a research mathematician for the Department of Defense, according to his obituary, which says he was home-schooled and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Delaware in 2019 with a degree in advanced mathematics. He loved nature, numbers, history, politics and his family and treasured his Catholic faith, the obituary states.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, Del.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, 600 E. 6th St., Wilmington, Del. Interment will follow.

Those who would like to make memorial donations in honor of Joseph Buxton may send them to St. Thomas More Oratory, 45 Lovett Ave., Wilmington, DE 19711. It is the Catholic campus ministry at the University of Delaware.
