Happy Mother's Day From Lexie Suggs

In celebration of Mother's Day on Sunday May 12, we asked Patch readers to write a letter to their mother and let us deliver it. This is Lexie Suggs' letter to her mom:

With Mother's Day right around the corner, I wanted to take a minute to share with the world how freaking incredible you are, and how thankful I am to have a mother like you!

Life hasn't always been a fairytale, but never once did you allow that to impact how we saw the world. You are our protector, our provider and our Super Glue holding all of us together. Everything you do is for our family, and I hope you truly know how much that means to me.

You've taught me to see the best in situations, as well as people. Thank you for teaching me to be honest, courteous, appreciative and loving! Thank you for teaching me how to be just as cool as you are with your creativity, your inspiration and your determination. You're a bundle of greatness filled with endless beauty, strength, courage, compassion, but most of all unconditional love!

You were there through every rotten middle school year. You put up with my unpredictable, incomprehensible mood swings and countered them with nothing but love and kindness. You have forgiven every bratty comment, every slammed door and every unnecessary eye roll. Thank you for not holding those years against me. Thank you for seeing the goodness in me even when I didn’t deserve it.

Any time I’ve had a bad day, I know a phone call with you will make it all OK again. You are a much-needed reality check when I’m overwhelmed, yet you always believe in me more than I do myself. Thank you for pushing me to try my hardest, but never asking too much of me.

I've never met anyone who has the "whole package" you come with. I've never met anyone nearly as strong-willed as you. I've never met anyone who literally loves so unconditionally as you do! I've never met anyone more daring and spontaneous as you, and I've never met anyone who has battled stage 4 cancer and came out on TOP like you did!

You're not just a regular mom who deserves a typical "thanks for loving us" letter. You deserve so much more than that. You're a SuperMom. You've been a life saver to more than just your children and there are so many people you've impacted over the years with your beautiful soul. I know sometimes you don't hear enough about how spectacular you are, how magnificent you are, or how downright majestic you are! So here's it is, Momma. Read it aloud, shout it to the sky— know and believe you are truly one-of-a-kind!

There aren't enough words in the world to express how much you mean to me, Mom! I can never thank you enough for everything you have done and still do for me and our family. You are the true definition of extraordinary. This letter honestly should be much longer than it is — there’s so much more I should thank you for. But just know that not a day goes by without me feeling blessed that you’re both my mom and my best friend.
