Harford Countians Excel at Pickleball
Several Harford Countians have recently won medals at pickleball tournaments.
Several Harford Countians who play pickleball at the Edgewood Recreation Center excelled in recent pickleball tournaments.
Dr. Dahlia Hirsch and her doubles partner, Charley Garrett became National Champions when they won a gold medal in mixed doubles 70-74 age group at the 2021 US National Indoor Pickleball Championships in Hoover, Alabama on June 9th. Their achievement automatically qualifies them for the 2021 Margaritaville USA Pickleball Championships at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, Palm Springs, California, in December.
Further success was attained at the 2021 Ocean Pines Pickleball Classic, Ocean Pines, MD, June 12-13. The mixed doubles team of Michael and Sherrie Bucchi won gold in mixed doubles, 3.5 skill level, 50-64 age group. The mixed doubles team of Dr. Dahlia Hirsch and Charley Garrett won gold in the 65+ age group, 4.0 skill level. The women's doubles team of Lori Phillips and Sandy Whaler won gold in the 24-54 age group, 3.5 skill level. And the men's doubles team of Tom Henry and Michael Bucchi won silver in the 58-64 age group, 4.0 skill level.
