Harford Under Winter Weather Advisory: Closures, Snow Totals

Snow and sleet could make driving dangerous in Harford County Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Until 6 a.m. Friday, Harford County is under a winter weather advisory for a mix of snow, sleet and ice. The advisory applies to the Baltimore-Washington region.

The winter storm warning is canceled.

Snow and sleet accumulations of up to 1 inch and ice accumulations of up to 0.1 inch could accumulate between 1 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday, according to the advisory.

PREVIOUS REPORT (EXPIRED): Until 6 a.m. Friday, Harford County is under a winter storm warning for a mix of snow, sleet and ice. The warning applies to the Baltimore-Washington region.

Northwest Harford could see snow and sleet accumulations of 4 to 7 inches and ice accumulations of up to 0.1 inch, according to authorities.

In southeast Harford County, forecasters say 1 to 3 inches of snow and sleet and 0.1 to 0.25 inch ice could accumulate during the warning period.

These unofficial snow totals were submitted to the National Weather Service before 9:30 a.m. Thursday:

  • 5.5 inches in Norrisville at 7 a.m.
  • 1 inch in Bel Air at 7 a.m.
  • 1 inch in Conowingo at 7 a.m.
  • 0.6 inch in Forest Hill at 7 a.m.
  • 0.3 inch in Fallston at 8 a.m.

Closures In Effect

Due to the weather, Harford County Public Schools canceled classes Thursday, including virtual instruction.

Harford County Government is closed Thursday, Feb. 18, due to weather conditions. Critical employees should report in accordance with policies established in their departments.

The Harford County Health Department delayed its Friday COVID-19 vaccine clinic until noon. Those slated for appointments between 9 a.m. and noon may come anytime between noon and 4 p.m. Friday. Those with appointments between noon and 5 p.m. Friday should report on time.

The Harford Mall closed at 3 p.m. Thursday. Stores with exterior entrances, restaurants and department stores may have varying hours, so patrons are encouraged to call ahead.
