Harford Man, 27, Dies From New Coronavirus: County Executive
A Harford County resident has died from the new coronavirus, according to County Executive Barry Glassman.
HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A man from Harford County has died from the new coronavirus, according to County Executive Barry Glassman. He was described as a 27-year-old with underlying health conditions who had traveled to New York.
The man died April 13 and was given a postmortem diagnosis of COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus, Glassman said.
"I am saddened to announce that Harford County has lost our first resident to a confirmed case of COVID-19, according to a report by the Maryland Department of Health Laboratories Administration," Glassman said in a statement Friday. "Our hearts go out to his family at this terrible time."

The Harford County man is among the youngest to die from the coronavirus in Maryland. Two people have died from the virus between the ages of 20 and 29, according to state health data, which shows 425 people have lost their lives to the disease as of Friday. There are 69 people who may have died from COVID-19 but lab results are pending, officials said.
"We are saddened to hear of this news and our thoughts go out to the family of this young man," Harford County Health Officer Russell Moy said in a statement. "In this time of great uncertainty, we worry about all those who have fallen ill and those who we know are vulnerable. Please stay home to protect everyone in Harford County."

Harford County has 176 confirmed cases of the virus, the Maryland Department of Health reported, as of Friday, April 17. Six Harford County residents probably died from the virus, according to the state, meaning those people have COVID-19 listed as a cause of death on their death certificates but lab results are pending.
This week Harford County released a coronavirus resource page that includes a map of cases by ZIP code. The most are in the 21040 ZIP code in Edgewood, which has 34 cases as of Friday afternoon, followed by 21015 in Bel Air South, where there are 25 cases, according to Harford County health data.
