HCC’s Rho Beta Chapter of PTK Recognized for Outstanding Growth
Harford's Rho Beta Chapter's acceptance rate goes above and beyond region, division, and international PTK membership acceptance rates.
Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK), the International Honor Society of two-year colleges, is recognizing Harford Community College’s Rho Beta Chapter and others for their efforts to bring the life-changing benefits and opportunities of PTK membership to even more students on their campuses in 2020. Harford’s chapter exceeded the annual 15% membership acceptance rate. It had a 22.40% acceptance rate, going above and beyond the region, division, and international PTK membership acceptance rates!
PTK designed a rewards program for chapters focused on Recognizing Excellence in Acceptance and Completion with Honors (REACH Rewards). The REACH Rewards program encourages membership by rewarding chapters who achieve or exceed 15% for their membership acceptance rate. Harford’s chapter is one of the 2021 REACH Chapters that will be rewarded with free graduation stoles for their members.
In addition, Harford’s Rho Beta Chapter again earned 5-Star Chapter status for the fifth consecutive year. Each year, PTK chapters are awarded stars that range from one to five based on their accomplishments during the year. Assistant Professor of Arts and Humanities Jennifer Jacobs, Harford’s PTK advisor, helped the chapter achieve this goal.
