HCPS Giving Away Extra Food Due To Holiday
An extra meal will be available for those picking up food Thursday at Harford County Public Schools meal distribution sites.
HARFORD COUNTY, MD — With schools closed due to the new coronavirus, Harford County Public Schools has been distributing meals to students and their families. Because meal distribution sites will not be operating Friday and Monday, students will receive an extra meal bag during distribution hours Thursday, April 9.
Meal bags include breakfast, lunch and dinner, and they are designed to help families that may need extra assistance.
Harford County Public Schools has distributed more than 37,000 meal kits as of Tuesday, according to preliminary data from Harford County Public Schools. The emergency meal distribution program began March 17 following the closure of schools due to the coronavirus. They are currently closed through at least April 24.

More than 20 sites around Harford County have been designated as distribution locations.
Children or parents/guardians may pick up the food at any of the meal sites; adults will have to provide the child's name at the time of pickup. The free meal distribution program is open to all children age 18 and under as well as all students in Harford County Public Schools, regardless of whether they participate in the free and reduced-price meal program.

People should bring a bag to carry their meals and refrigerate items once they are at home.
Hours are generally 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays for meal distribution but may vary by site; check the website https://hcpsmenus.com/ for more information. The sites will be closed Friday, April 10, for Good Friday, and Monday, April 13, which was slated to be a closure for spring break.
