James Anthony Schleicher Sr., 57, of Bel Air

He was president of the Ravens Roost in Bel Air as well as a member of the American Legion and St. Ignatius.

James Anthony Schleicher Sr. of Bel Air died at his home Oct. 6. He was 57.

Schleicher loved biking, camping, family and the Ravens, according to his obituary, which said he was the president of Ravens Roost #74 in Bel Air as well as a member of American Legion Post 39 and of St. Ignatius Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie Jean (Nuttle); son James Anthony Schleicher Jr. of Annapolis; daughter Ashley (Jon) Manger of Lutherville; sister Joy May; brothers Robert Schleicher Jr., David (Velma) John Schleicher and Alan (Andrea) Michael Schleicher; grandchildren Jonathan Paul Manger Jr. and Brooks Anthony Manger; nieces Beth Schleicher and Jennifer Schleicher Schenning; and nephews Scott Marsh and Joey Schleicher, his obituary states.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at McComas Funeral Home, 50 W. Broadway, Bel Air, MD 21014.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, at McComas Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Mt. Erin Catholic Cemetery at 910 Graceview Drive in Havre de Grace.

There will be a Schleicher's Hikers 5K Fun Run/Walk at the Ma & Pa Trail at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12. Proceeds will benefit the International Myeloma Foundation. Schleicher had been battling multiple myeloma since 2012, according to organizers of the walk, who described him as a "valiant multiple myeloma warrior" and "one of the strongest people around."
