MD 24 Changes Planned As Part Of I-95 Express Toll Lanes Project
Plans to reduce congestion and minimize noise on Route 24 will be presented at a virtual meeting.
HARFORD COUNTY, MD — As part of the I-95 Express Toll Lanes extension project, state officials plan to add a third lane to MD 24 in Harford County. The Maryland Transportation Authority will present its plan to the public at a virtual meeting on Feb. 4.
Plans call for a third auxiliary lane on MD 24 north to run from MD 924 through Singer Road.
Officials said the third lane will reduce congestion along the path from Interstate 95 toward Bel Air.

As part of the project, northbound lanes will be resurfaced and widened on MD 24, where the Singer Road intersection will also undergo traffic signal modifications. Timing will be adjusted, two existing poles will have to be relocated and the signal will have to be modified to allow for a third northbound lane on Route 24 north, John Sales, spokesperson for the Maryland Transportation Authority, told Patch. Three noise walls may also be installed.
A dynamic messaging sign would be added on MD 24 south in the area north of MD 924.
