Patterson Mill Wins 2 State Lacrosse Titles

MARYLAND — Patterson Mill High School snapped up two state lacrosse titles this week. The boys and girls lacrosse teams clinched the class 1A state titles on Monday and Tuesday, respectively, in the championship games hosted by the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association.

The Huskies boys lacrosse team defeated the Sparrows Point Pointers, 14-3, in the class 1A state championship game at 5 p.m. at Paint Branch High School on Monday, May 20.

It was an "all-around team effort," senior midfielder Kevin Dyke told The Aegis.

Dyke broke a record in a class 1A championship game, scoring eight goals, helping to lift the Huskies to their second consecutive state lacrosse title.

On Tuesday, the Huskies girls lacrosse followed suit.

Patterson Mill and Loch Raven faced off in the class 1A girls lacrosse championship at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, at Paint Branch High School. The Huskies beat the Raiders, 20-4.

Both teams made it to the state finals after beating their opponents in the semis by double digits.

  • The Patterson Mill Huskies beat the Boonsboro Warriors, 17-5, on Saturday, May 18.
  • Loch Raven Raiders beat McDonogh Eagles, 16-5, on Saturday, May 18.

More Bel Air Teams In Playoffs

C. Milton Wright beat Northern in the class 3A baseball semifinals at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, at Joe Cannon Stadium in Hanover. The Mustangs won, 4-2, and will proceed to play for the state title against the J.M. Bennett Clippers at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, at Ripken Stadium.

The Bel Air Bobcats fell to the Huntington Hurricanes in the class 3A softball semifinals at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, at Bachman Park in Glen Burnie. The Hurricanes beat the Bobcats, 10-2. To get to the game, Bel Air beat Towson, 3-0, and claimed the class 3A north regional title. Huntington beat Oxon Hill, 24-0, for the 3A south title.

The girls lacrosse team from C. Milton Wright fell to Westminster in the battle for the class 3A title at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 20, at Paint Branch High School. The Owls beat the Mustangs, 15-9.
