A peacock caused a stir on the Harford County Council in 2012, after residents in Bynum Overlook raised concerns about vocal birds at a home in Abingdon. The resident told NBC in 2015 that the county ordered her to release her peacocks and peahens (the female birds) from their pens, meaning the peafowl were roaming the neighborhood.

In 2014, a peacock flew through a hole in the roof at Weber's Cider Mill Farm and was spotted around several Baltimore County neighborhoods.

Peacocks mate from spring into early summer, and they tend to display their trains as a means of attraction.
