Plans For Mission BBQ Patio In Bel Air Approved
As work begins on the interior of the new restaurant in Bel Air, the outdoor patio plan for Mission BBQ was approved.

BEL AIR, MD — Work will begin soon on the interior of the future Mission BBQ in Bel Air.
In what used to be the Pier 1 store, the barbecue chain plans to open its newest location.
The goal is to start work on the interior within a week and a half, according to Alan Hamm, the architect who presented the plan Thursday to the Bel Air Planning Commission.

Interior plans had already been approved, and Hamm was seeking the go-ahead for the outdoor dining area.
"Basically picnic tables are their seating," Hamm said.

People can order inside at the fast-casual restaurant, which does not have wait staff. Patrons then carry the food themselves out to the patio.
A 55-foot flagpole will be planted at the corner of the property. Around noon each day at Mission BBQ locations nationwide, the restaurant plays the National Anthem, and people salute.
“It’s pretty impressive,” Hamm said. He said the anthem will be played at a low volume through speakers on the patio.
Known for its barbecue fare and patriotism, Mission BBQ offers menu items like pulled pork, spare ribs, brisket, mac and cheese and baked beans.
The Bel Air's Planning Commission unanimously approved of the plan for the exterior. A tentative opening date was not provided.
The restaurant will be at 627 Bel Air Road.
