Richest People In MD, State's Top Businesses: See 2023 Details
Annette Lerner of Maryland is the state's richest person, and several businesses earned recognition as the best places to work in 2023.
MARYLAND ? Annette Lerner and family still are the richest people in Maryland, worth an estimated $6.5 billion, according to Forbes, whose list of the 400 Richest Billionaires is one of several business rankings prominently mentioning our state in 2023.
The Lerner family ranked 161st in the country on the list. In 1952, Lerner loaned $250 to her then 26-year-old husband Ted to start their real estate company. Since 2006, the Lerner family has owned the Washington Nationals. Ted Lerner passed on control of the team to his son, Mark, in June 2018.
The Lerners weren't the only Maryland titans rich enough to make the list.
