Route 22 Project In Bel Air Delayed By Gas Line: Report
Construction crews need to move an underground BGE line before the second phase of the Route 22 project can proceed, says media report.

BEL AIR, MD — The relocation of an underground natural gas line has delayed the completion of a state project to upgrade Route 22 from Bel Air to Churchville, according to a media report. The $6.5 million project was scheduled to be completed this fall, but state officials say it won't be finished until next spring, the Aegis newspaper reported Thursday.
The project's goal is to improve safety and ease congestion on the well-traveled road, according to the Aegis.
Much of the project's first phase, the resurfacing of Route 22 between Thomas Run Road/Schucks Road in Bel Air and Route 136 in Churchville, is largely completed, said a spokeswoman for the State Highway Administration, the Aegis reported.

Before phase two can begin, construction crews need to move a BGE gas line, the Aegis reported. The second phase involves widening and resurfacing Route 22 from the Thomas Run/Shucks Road intersection to the Prospect Mill Road intersection.
