Saladworks Is Now Open In Bel Air
A casual restaurant specializing in salads is now open in the Tollgate Marketplace on Baltimore Pike in Bel Air.
BEL AIR, MD — A restaurant specializing in salad is now open in Bel Air. Saladworks opened for business Monday in the Tollgate Marketplace.
Diners walk in to a long bar, with a staffer on one side ready to build a salad, grain bowl or sandwich, panini or wrap made to order. Soups are also available.
There are several types of lettuce — kale, spring mix, iceberg romaine and arugula — as well as toppings from dried cranberries to honey BBQ chicken to roasted brussels sprouts from which to choose. For grain bowls, people can select organic quinoa or brown rice as a base.

For a create-your-own salad, select up to three lettuce bases, up to five toppings and a dressing. Each salad comes with a white or wheat roll. It's $10.17 with tax. If a person wants more than five toppings, the toppings are extra.

Saladworks has been around since 1986. It was intended to present an alternative to fast food options and has reinvented itself over the years, adding bowls filled with ingredients like quinoa to its menu. It operates more than 100 locations around the world.
Bel Air native Amanda Johnson is the owner. For the past 12 years she has been working with her father, who is a Burger King franchisee in the area, but she said as a mother of two young children, she wanted to bring a healthier option to Bel Air.
The Bel Air Saladworks is at 615 Belair Road in Bel Air, between TGI Fridays and Noodles & Co. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
