The suspect wanted for the attempted 2nd-degree murder of a Harford Co. sheriff's deputy has been extradited to MD where he awaits trial.
HARFORD COUNTY, MD ? On Friday, Juan Yahir Quiroz Manzueta was processed into the Harford County Detention Center after law enforcement tracked him to his home state of New York where he fought being extradited to Maryland.
Manzueta of Yonkers, New York, was behind the wheel of a Penske truck that held a container of cooking oil linked to a theft at an Applebee's in Aberdeen fled, Patch reported previously. Manzueta, who was 21 at the time, deliberately swerved at Lieutenant Robert Burgess on Aug. 26 around 11:25 a.m. Burgess had attempted to stop the truck after Manzueta eluded police in a chase the day before.
Mazueta intentionally crashed into a tractor-trailer and another vehicle on I-95 before hitting Burgess who was outside his vehicle trying to deploy devices to puncture the truck's tires and stop it. He was thrown approximately 65 feet across lanes of traffic. Burgess was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore in critical condition, Patch reported previously.
