Sustainability Award Applications Now Available

MD Dept. of the Environment is looking for the best green candidates for its annual honors. Harford County Public Schools won in 2017.

BALTIMORE, MD —The Maryland Department of the Environment announced earlier this week that it is seeking applications for the annual Maryland Green Registry Sustainability Leadership Award and Sustainability Leadership Circle. The two-question application is due by April 23.

The award has been presented since 2010 to organizations of all kinds - from large corporations to small nonprofits - that display an enterprise-wide commitment to environmental performance, annual environmental goals, a green team that meets on a regular basis and a measurement of results.

The Sustainability Leadership Circle is a separate designation that honors former Leadership Award winners that have demonstrated a commitment to continual improvement through new sustainable practices in the previous year.

Harford County Public Schools (HCPS) is eligible for the latter distinction because it earned the Sustainability Leadership Award in 2017 for its achievements in energy efficiency, renewable energy, composting and recycling.

On the application for both awards, organizations are asked to answer two questions in 150 words or less:
