Teen Arrested After Being Found With Loaded Gun: Aberdeen Police

A specially trained K9 helped Aberdeen detectives unearth a loaded handgun they connected to a teen who tried to outrun officers, APD said.

According to the Aberdeen Police Department, the detectives were patrolling an area known for violence and gang activity. They conducted a traffic stop and a teen riding in the vehicle jumped out and took off on foot.

ABERDEEN, MD ? A teen has been arrested after Aberdeen Police special operations detectives and a specially trained K9 found a loaded 9mm handgun in the juvenile's vicinity, police said.

According to the Aberdeen Police Department, the detectives were patrolling an area known for violence and gang activity. They conducted a traffic stop and a teen riding in the vehicle jumped out and took off on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, detectives were able to apprehend the teen. A special K9 helped detectives search the area where he was arrested and that's when they found the loaded 9mm handgun, the police department stated.

"APD remains committed to proactive policing efforts that keep illegal firearms off our streets and protect our community from violent crime," the police department stated.
