He was killed in a 12-car crash on MD 24 at Ring Factory Road that also took the life of ShopRite owner Andrew Klein.

At the time of the crash, Tripp was in a car with his mother, Megan Fulleylove, according to the GoFundMe page to help with her care and the child's funeral expenses. Fulleylove was rushed to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in stable yet critical condition.

There was a prayer service at Prince of Peace Church in Edgewood on Tuesday, March 19, for the families of both Tripp's father and his mother. Tripp had been a student in the Faith Formation program and was set to receive his First Holy Communion this spring, church officials reported.

Approximately 150 people were at the service, including Tripp's father, Travis Johnson, The Aegis reported. Since the boy's mother was hospitalized and needed multiple surgeries after the crash, the family held off on scheduling his funeral service until she would be able to attend.

Her condition had improved from critical to fair, the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center told Fox 45 on Thursday, March 21.
