BETHESDA, MD — After a 23-month closure for repairs, the Dentzel Carousel at Glen Echo Park has reopened in time to celebrate its 100th anniversary season.

Local and state leaders — including Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin — attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the carousel on Saturday, May 1.

The ride was installed at Glen Echo Park in 1921 and features hand wood-carved animals made by the Dentzel Carousel Company of Germantown, Pennsylvania. It was fully restored between 1983 and 2003, and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
