107 New COVID-19 Cases, 5 Deaths Recorded In Montgomery County

BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County registered 107 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, as well as five deaths associated with the virus.

The latest additions push the total number of confirmed cases and deaths in the county to 64,273 and 1,390, respectively.

The official fatality count does not include the 45 others whose deaths were linked to the virus but never confirmed by a lab test. For now, they are considered "probable deaths."

Montgomery County — which is home to roughly 1 million people — continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second-highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 74,704, according to the latest figures.

Across Maryland, there have been 389,566 cases, 7,820 confirmed deaths, and 182 "probable deaths." Of the 801 people currently being hospitalized statewide, 216 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

As of Wednesday, Maryland has administered 1,653,670 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Among those, 1,069,281 were first doses and 584,389 were second doses.

In Montgomery County, 201,159 residents (19.1 percent) have received their first dose. A total of 100,748 residents (9.6 percent) have already gotten their second and final shot.
