Bethesda makes the top 10 in the rankings, which factor in schools, crime rates, housing, employment rates, amenities and more.
Niche.com has released its 2016 Best Places to Live in Maryland, and both Bethesda and North Bethesda cleared the top 10.
Niche uses data compiled by sources such as the U.S. Census Bureau, the FBI, Bureau of Labor Statistics and other entities.
It also takes into account several factors when it considers adding cities to its list, including how local schools perform, crime rates, housing trends, employment rates and access to amenities.

Niche also reviews such as cost of living, the percentage of residents who have received a bachelor's degree or higher, job opportunities, commute times and nightlife.

- Forest Glen
- Columbia
- Kemp Mill
- South Kensington
- Somerset
- North Potomac
- Chevy Chase Village
- Rockville
- Bethesda
In fact, Montgomery County neighborhoods virtually dominated the top 25.
Bethesda earned high marks for the quality of schools, health care and parks. Says the website:
"Bethesda … has very high home values, very high rent costs, and very low unemployment levels. Its citizens generally have very high education levels and very high income levels."
