2-Mile Stretch of River Road to Get a Makeover
New pedestrian signals are set to be installed at the River Road intersection with Whittier Boulevard and Winston Drive, benefitting students at Walt Whitman High School.
River Road will be subject to periodic closures over the next year while the highway administration gives two miles of the Bethesda roadway a facelift.Â
The paving project, between the Capital Beltway and Goldsboro Road, includes rebuilding sidewalk ramps, curbs, gutters and guardrails, the Washington Post reported today. The traffic signal at River Road and Wilson Lane is also getting brighter lights, which should improve visibility at the busy intersection, and new pedestrian signals are being installed at the River Road intersection with Whittier Boulevard and Winston Drive.
Upgrades are set to be completed by spring 2015.
