BETHESDA, MD — Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza is opening its first Maryland location in Bethesda later this month, according to a company spokeswoman.

The fast-casual chain — famous for its well-charred pies — is poised to open at 7776 Norfolk Ave. on Jan. 29. Bethesda's Woodmont Triangle opening grows the South Florida-based company to 66 establishments across eight states.

Unlike many traditional pizza joints, Anthony's pies are made in a 900-degree coal fired oven. The unique cooking method, the restaurant says, brings out the bold, natural flavor of its dishes.
