Bark Social To Bring Dogs, Humans Together Over Beer, Coffee

BETHESDA, MD — What do you get when you combine a beer garden, a coffee bar, and an off-leash dog park? Answer: Bark Social.

And it's coming to North Bethesda's Pike & Rose shopping development in September.

Bark Social, the first "dog bar" in the Mid-Atlantic Region, will be located at 935 Prose St. — next to Julii and JINYA Ramen Bar.

A passion project for founders Luke Silverman and Jeff Kurtzman, Bark Social will span 25,000 square feet and include an indoor-outdoor craft beer and coffee bar, as well as a professionally monitored off-leash dog park.

"Pike and Rose is the perfect location to launch Bark Social because it offers the best in class mixed-use experience in the Washington region. We look forward to bringing our unique concept to the neighborhood and making new two- and four-legged friends," said Silverman, an entrepreneur and former reality TV producer for "American Idol" and "The Bachelor."

The year-round venue will offer a climate-controlled clubhouse with TVs and Wi-Fi, a dog treat bar (think "pupsicles" and puppy ice cream), a dog boutique, and dog washing stations.

Customers and their canine companions can also enjoy Doga (dog yoga), daily Yappy Hours, singles night, and dog birthday parties.

To kick off Bark Social's launch, the company is offering discounted memberships for "Founding Members," frontline workers, veterans, and government employees.
