The metroBethesda Rotary Club has announced an initiative of over $53,000 to support three local nonprofits on the front lines responding to the Covid-19 crisis. The BCC Rescue Squad (including 5 area squads), MobileMed and So What Else are the beneficiaries.

The BCC Rescue Squad received funding for hazmat suits and decontamination equipment (some of which is pictured above) to sanitize ambulances, equipment and facilities. Specialized sprayers and UV lighting sterilizers will be received by the BCC, North Bethesda, Bethesda, Cabin John and Glen Echo squads. Mobile Med, which provides medical services for low income county residents (over 80% of whom are uninsured) will purchase medical equipment and PPE. So What Else, which is distributing food and other essential items to underserved students and their families, received funds for food and PPE.

This ambitious project was funded by the metroBethesda Rotary Foundation and individual club members, as well as the Rotary Foundation of Washington, the Rotary District 7620 and the Rotary International World Fund. Contributions to support these and future Covid-19 related efforts can be made by contacting club president Daniel Fischer at daniel@solveitgroup.com.
