BETHESDA, MD — Suburban Hospital in Bethesda has a new COO and president, according to Washington Business Journal.

Jessica Melton — who most recently oversaw operations at Virginia's Sentara Norfolk General Hospital — will reportedly assume her role on April 15. Suburban Hospital is owned by Johns Hopkins Medicine and ranks among the top medical facilities in the Washington region.

WBJ says she will replace LeighAnn Sidone, who has been leading the 228-bed facility on an interim basis for more than five months. Sidone will continue serving as chief nursing officer and vice president of nursing.

In her new role, Melton will oversee ambulatory and inpatient services, quality and safety programs, and "development of high-quality, cost-effective and integrated clinical programs throughout the region," Hopkins said in a statement obtained by WBJ.

Melton was previously vice president of medical, surgical, and critical care services at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. She received both her bachelor's and master's degrees at The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
