Blizzard 2016: When Will Snow Stop in Bethesda?

Bethesda could receive up to 17 more inches of snow by Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County should expect rounds of heavy and blowing snow the rest of Saturday and through the evening, says the National Weather Service, giving residents a fresh snowfall of up to 17 inches by Sunday morning.

That’s on top of the snow that fell overnight Friday .

The region is under a blizzard warning until 6 a.m. Sunday.

Expect strong north winds of about 25 mph today, with gusts as high as 37 mph overnight.

Matt Elliott, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Sterling, VA, says the snow “should be clearing out by later this evening.”

Maryland Blizzard Latest: Blizzard Conditions Saturday, Early Snowfall Totals

Wind gusts were clocked at 50 MPH Saturday morning at Dulles Washington International Airport, Elliott said. Blowing snow is likely hampering road-clearing efforts of the hundreds of snowplow trucks in the region, he said.

The forecast for Sunday is sunny, with a high near 30, although strong northwest winds will continue with gusts as high as 23 mph. The Monday forecast is calling for sunshine with highs in the upper 30s and light winds.
