Chef José Andrés' Spanish Diner Opens At Bethesda Row

José Andrés's newest concept, Spanish Diner, takes over the space formerly occupied by his other restaurant, Jaleo.

BETHESDA, MD — Celebrity chef José Andrés has opened a new restaurant at Bethesda Row.

Spanish Diner — an all-day breakfast and Spanish homestyle cooking joint — opened at 7271 Woodmont Ave. on Thursday. It takes over the space formerly occupied by Andrés' other Spanish restaurant, Jaleo. Andrés, a Bethesda resident, shut down Jaleo when the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020.

At Spanish Diner, customers can enjoy a variety of authentic dishes, including Huevos Rotos Casa Lucio (fried eggs with crispy potatoes and meat) and Fabada Asturiana (fabes stewed with morcilla, chorizo, and smoked Ibérico pork bacon).

"The menu at Spanish Diner is quintessentially Spanish, but you'll be hard-pressed to find these dishes at any restaurant in Spain as these are the recipes that are found at home, shared around the kitchen table with family and friends, generation after generation," the restaurant's OpenTable page read.

Spanish Diner is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
