Construction Closes North Bethesda Intersection For Five Months
The intersection of Executive Boulevard and Old Georgetown Road will be closed for the next five months, according to county officials.

BETHESDA, MD — For the next five months, the intersection of Executive Boulevard and Old Georgetown Road in North Bethesda will be closed to vehicle traffic.
The project, called the "White Flint West Workaround," is part of Montgomery County's capital improvements program. It will include the reconfiguration of the pedestrian, bicycle, and road network that includes Old Georgetown Road, Towne Road, Executive Boulevard, Grand Park Avenue, and Banneker Avenue.
Construction started on Monday and is expected to last through late August. Crews will be working weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The temporary traffic flow and detour plan will include the following:
- Eastbound traffic on Executive Boulevard will end at the 6000 Executive Blvd. traffic signal
- Southbound traffic on Old Georgetown Road (coming from Rockville Pike) will end at Grand Park Avenue
- Local southbound traffic on Old Georgetown Road (coming from Rockville Pike) will have access to the Pallas Apartment Parking Garage and to the T-Mobile parking lot
- Northbound traffic on Old Georgetown Road must turn right turn onto Nicholson Lane to get to northbound MD 355 — or turn left onto Tilden Lane
- Local northbound traffic on Old Georgetown Road can get to the service entrance to the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission Aquatic Center and Wall Park
- Local traffic on Executive Boulevard can access the medical offices and other businesses down to 6000 and 6001 Executive Blvd.; traffic moving in and out of the 6001 Executive Boulevard offices from Towne Road will continue to enter and exit unimpeded
- Ride On buses will continue to serve Executive Boulevard stops, but will make a U-turn at the 6000/6001 Executive Blvd. traffic signal
