County Adds 91 New Cases; 25.7% Of Residents Have Gotten Vaccine

Montgomery Co. added fewer than 100 COVID-19 cases on Monday. It's the ninth time this month that cases have dipped into the double digits.

BETHESDA, MD — For the ninth time this month, Montgomery County's daily COVID-19 case count dropped below the 100 mark.

The county recorded 91 new cases of coronavirus on Monday, according to the Maryland Department of Health, pushing the local total to 65,596 infections.

On Monday, the county did not record any new deaths from the virus. The local death toll remains at 1,410.

Forty-six others may have had the virus but died before ever getting tested, according to health officials. For now, they are considered "probable deaths."

Montgomery County — which is home to roughly 1 million people — continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second-highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 76,481, according to the latest figures.

Across Maryland, there have been 400,705 cases, 7,999 confirmed deaths, and 185 "probable deaths." Of the 866 people currently being hospitalized statewide, 205 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

As of Monday, Maryland has administered 2,216,380 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Among those, 1,425,767 were first doses and 733,840 were second doses.

In Montgomery County, 270,266 residents (25.7 percent) have received their first dose. A total of 140,264 residents (13.3 percent) have already gotten their second and final shot.
