County Conducting Transportation Survey For Visually Impaired

Officials in Montgomery County are conducting a survey on how they can best help the visually impaired safely navigate their communities.

BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County transportation officials are conducting a survey on how they can best help the visually impaired navigate their communities.

Anyone who has trouble moving around the county or accessing regional transit options is encouraged to fill out this survey by Sunday, Jan. 31. Caregivers, disability advocates, and other relevant professionals can also participate.

The survey, in English, can be found at https://tinyurl.com/yxshmbvn. It's also available in Spanish at https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/6135451/Spanish.

According to the county's transportation department, the survey is for people who did not attend the virtual public meeting on Jan. 11. About 60 people — many with vision disabilities — participated in the meeting and provided testimony about the mobility challenges they face.

Officials say the feedback they receive will help them design "sidewalks, bus stops, and intersections (that will) improve accessibility for all," according to a statement.
