County Records 77 New COVID-19 Cases, Fewest Since Mid-October
Montgomery County recorded its lowest daily number of new coronavirus cases since Oct. 19.
BETHESDA, MD — The number of new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County fell to 77 on Tuesday — its lowest level since mid-October.
The caseload hasn't been that low since Oct. 19, when 71 infections were recorded. Tuesday's addition pushes the countywide total to 64,934 cases.
One more resident has died from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. The local death toll now sits at 1,398.

Health officials believe that another 45 people had the virus, but died before ever getting tested. For now, they are considered "probable deaths."
Montgomery County — which is home to roughly 1 million people — continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second-highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 75,541, according to the latest figures.

Across Maryland, there have been 394,716 cases, 7,896 confirmed deaths, and 184 "probable deaths." Of the 805 people currently being hospitalized statewide, 213 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
As of Tuesday, Maryland has administered 1,945,799 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Among those, 1,235,750 were first doses and 658,507 were second doses.
In Montgomery County, 234,109 residents (22.3 percent) have received their first dose. A total of 120,173 residents (11.4 percent) have already gotten their second and final shot.
