COVID-19 In Montgomery Co: 94 Cases, 0 Deaths Added On March 8

Since the pandemic began in Montgomery County, health officials have recorded 64,081 cases and 1,381 deaths linked to COVID-19.

BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County added 94 new COVID-19 cases Monday, pushing its total to 64,081 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

No new deaths were reported in the county. The local death toll remains at 1,381.

The latest fatality count does not include the 45 others whose deaths were linked to the virus but never confirmed by a lab test. For now, they are considered "probable deaths."

Montgomery County — which is home to roughly 1 million residents — continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second-highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 74,452, according to the latest figures.

Across Maryland, there have been 388,035 cases, 7,781 confirmed deaths, and 182 "probable deaths." Of the 792 people currently being hospitalized statewide, 215 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

As of Monday, Maryland has administered 1,584,753 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Among those, 1,020,280 were first doses and 564,473 were second doses.

In Montgomery County, 187,164 residents (17.8 percent) have received their first dose. A total of 93,895 residents (8.9 percent) have already gotten their second and final shot.
