COVID-19 In Montgomery Co: Officials Add 115 New Cases, 1 Death

BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County added 115 new coronavirus cases and one more death from COVID-19, according to the Maryland Department of Health.

Figures released Friday push the countywide totals since the start of the pandemic to 64,514 infections and 1,393 fatalities.

The latest fatality count does not include the 45 others whose deaths were linked to the virus but never confirmed by a lab test. For now, they are considered "probable deaths."

Montgomery County — which is home to about 1 million people — continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second-highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 74,991, according to the latest figures.

Across Maryland, there have been 391,480 coronavirus cases, 7,848 confirmed deaths, and 182 "probable deaths." Of the 765 patients being hospitalized for the disease statewide, 195 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

As of Friday, Maryland has administered 1,781,370 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Among those, 1,124,484 were first doses and 611,861 were second doses.

In Montgomery County, 212,281 residents (20.2 percent) have received their first dose. A total of 108,995 residents (10.4 percent) have already gotten their second and final shot.
