COVID-19 In Montgomery Co: Zero New Deaths, 130 New Cases Added

BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County registered 130 new coronavirus infections overnight, data released by the Maryland Department of Health showed.

For Maryland's most populous jurisdiction, Wednesday's addition pushes the total number of cases since the pandemic began to 67,505.

No new COVID-19-related deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. The local death toll remains at 1,438.

The latest fatality count does not include the 46 others whose deaths were linked to the virus but never confirmed by a lab test. For now, they are considered "probable deaths."

Montgomery County — which is home to roughly 1 million people — continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second-highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 79,286, according to the latest figures.

Across Maryland, there have been 420,526 cases, 8,203 confirmed deaths, and 186 "probable deaths." Of the 1,200 people currently being hospitalized statewide, 277 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

As of Wednesday, Maryland has administered 3,116,120 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Among those, 1,930,376 were first doses and 1,079,140 were second doses.

In Montgomery County, 388,163 residents (36.9 percent) have received their first dose. A total of 219,411 residents (20.9 percent) have already gotten their second and final shot.
