BETHESDA, MD — Emergency crews in Montgomery County had to rescue dozens of stranded residents as heavy rainfall and flooding pummeled the area on Saturday.

Saturday night, around two dozen people at a one-year-old's birthday party at Meadowbrook Park in Chevy Chase needed to be rescued from rising flood waters, according to officials. The Maryland-National Capital Park Police and the Montgomery County Swift Water Rescue Team used inflatable rafts to evacuate the guests. No one was injured during the rescue, Pete Piringer, the chief spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services, said.

Piringer posted a video of the rescue on Twitter.

Two other vehicles were stranded in high water near Brighton Dam Road and Bordly Drive on Saturday night. Only one of the vehicles was occupied, and crews were able to rescue the motorist, Piringer said.

In Olney, crews rescued another stranded motorist. First responders found the driver near Volunteer Drive and Laytonsville Road, Piringer said.

The weather has prompted officials to close down multiple roads in Montgomery County. Due to high water and debris in the Potomac River, White's Ferry is closed. Piringer posted the update on Twitter.
