David Sorensen, 79, of Bethesda, MD, died on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015. The son of the late Arthur and Ella (nee Davidson) Sorensen, he was born December 16, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY, where he grew up and spent most of his life.

Sorensen was a long-time leader in the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 265, Brooklyn, NY, and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Husband of 56 years of Frances T. Sorensen; father of David (and his wife, Kristin) Sorensen, Erik Sorensen (and his wife, Melinda Weir); Michael (and his wife, Stacy) Sorensen and Mary Jane (and her husband, George) Reese. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Pumphrey’s Colonial Funeral Home, 300 W. Montgomery Ave. in Rockville, on Sunday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, Falls at Dunster Roads in Rockville, on Monday, Sept. 28, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private.
