Flood Watch Issued For Parts Of Montgomery County

Forecasters say the heaviest rain will fall overnight and into Thursday morning for parts of Montgomery County and surrounding areas.

BETHESDA, MD — The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for parts of Montgomery County and surrounding areas. The flood watch will be in effect late Wednesday evening until Thursday afternoon.

Some locations that may experience flooding include: Bethesda, Rockville, Silver Spring, Gaithersburg, Germantown, Damascus, Clinton, College Park, Greenbelt, Laurel, Glen Burnie, Frederick, Annapolis, Severna Park, Arnold, Odenton, St. Charles, Waldorf, Centreville, Baltimore, Bowie, Ellicott City, Aberdeen, Manassas, Reston, Herndon, McLean, Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church, and Washington, D.C.

Total rainfall will be in the 1- to 2-inch range, with most of it falling overnight and into Thursday morning, forecasters say. Runoff from saturated soil and a nearly frozen ground may trigger flooding in streams, creeks, and low-lying urban areas.
