Freezing Rain Alert Plus New Year's Eve Weather Forecast
The week starts off warm and rainy, then begins to feel more like winter, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service warns residents in northwest, central and southeast Montgomery County that rain meeting colder air tonight could result in a period of freezing rain.
The week begins soggy and with another run of ridiculously warm temperatures before a cooldown in time for New Year’s Eve. According to the National Weather Service, Maryland will see lower temperatures by Friday, New Year’s Day, and mostly clear skies.
Rain chances are high throughout the week but diminish as we get closer to New Year’s Eve, with no mention of rain for Thursday or Friday, according to the National Weather Service forecast.
- Monday: Cloudy with a 40 percent chance of rain. Cooler with highs in the low r0s.
- Monday Night: Rain in the evening after 9 p.m., then patchy fog after 10 p.m. Low around 40. Chance of rain 100 percent.
- Tuesday: Rain with patchy drizzle before 11 a.m., then a chance of rain after 11 a.m. and patchy fog. Highs in the low 60s. Chance of rain is 80 percent.
- Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy. Lows in the upper 40s.
- Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with a 60 percent chance of afternoon showers. Highs in the low 50s.
- Wednesday Night: Showers likely. Lows in the upper 40s. Chance of rain 60 percent.
- Thursday: Partly sunny. Highs in the mid 50s.
- Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy. Lows in the mid 30s.
- New Year’s Day: Mostly sunny. Highs in the low 40s.
- Friday Night: Mostly clear. Lows in the low 30s.
- Saturday: Sunny. Highs in the lower 40s.
