Bethesda Resident Helps Students Grow a Garden

Vertical Garden Installation
Vertical Garden Installation

Bethesda resident Ellen Singer is helping MCPS students learn about gardening and healthy eating. With help from metroBethesda Rotary's Garden Initiative, students of all ages can install and tend to mobile, vertical, year-round, hydroponic growing systems.

Students and staff are attracted to this hands-on, eye-catching and stimulating learning tool. They are captivated by the daily transformation of lettuces and herbs from seedlings to full grown plants. Students help plant, maintain and harvest the bounty. The project has been completed at Rock Creek Forest Elementary School, Loiederman Middle School, Blair High School, and the KID Museum at the Davis Library.
