It's Easy Being Green

Bethesda Resident Shows How Residents Can Be More Environmentally Friendly

Pam Mercer discusses going green.
Pam Mercer discusses going green.

Contrary to Kermit the Frog's refrain that "It's not easy being green," Bethesda resident Pam Mercer believes it can be fairly simple. Pam has worked for over ten years in conservation education. Her work spans the globe from here at home to Namibia and China to educate people about endangered species, habitats and conservation. She firmly believes that a vast number of activities and tasks in the home can be made more eco-friendly and, often, healthier.

It does call for a change in perspective and habits. A good place to start is to stop using disposable cups and straws. Have a mug handy. Buy collapsable straws. These easy changes cut down on the amount of plastic you use, and what ends up in the landfill. She has dozens of other suggestions at her website.
