MoCo Adds 132 COVID-19 Cases; 12.5% of Residents Fully Vaccinated

BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County registered 132 new COVID-19 cases Friday, as well as six more deaths associated with the virus.

The latest additions push the total number of confirmed cases and deaths in the county to 65,289 and 1,409, respectively.

The official fatality count does not include the 46 others whose deaths were linked to the virus but never confirmed by a lab test. For now, they are considered "probable deaths."

Montgomery County — which is home to roughly 1 million people — continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second-highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 76,022, according to the latest figures.

Across Maryland, there have been 397,898 cases, 7,947 confirmed deaths, and 185 "probable deaths." Of the 816 people currently being hospitalized statewide, 218 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

As of Friday, Maryland has administered 2,095,245 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Among those, 1,341,728 were first doses and 699,817 were second doses.

In Montgomery County, 253,250 residents (24.1 percent) have received their first dose. A total of 130,945 residents (12.5 percent) have already gotten their second and final shot.
