Montgomery County Reports 119 New COVID-19 Cases, 3 More Deaths

Montgomery County added 119 new COVID-19 cases and three new deaths on Wednesday. About 11.8% of residents are now fully vaccinated.

BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County recorded 119 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, up from 77 the day before, data released by Maryland's health department showed.

The latest addition pushes the county's cumulative total to 65,053 infections.

Three more deaths were reported overnight, bringing the local fatality count to 1,401.

The latest death toll does not include the 45 others whose deaths were linked to the virus but never confirmed by a lab test. For now, they are considered "probable deaths."

Montgomery County — which is home to roughly 1 million people — continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second-highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 75,719, according to the latest figures.

Across Maryland, there have been 395,633 cases, 7,915 confirmed deaths, and 184 "probable deaths." Of the 805 people currently being hospitalized statewide, 226 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

As of Wednesday, Maryland has administered 1,992,536 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Among those, 1,267,326 were first doses and 672,922 were second doses.

In Montgomery County, 240,417 residents (22.9 percent) have received their first dose. A total of 124,431 residents (11.8 percent) have already gotten their second and final shot.
